Mersiv Showcases Up-and-Coming Artists on ‘Throw Down: Vol. 2’

Out now on MorFlo Records, Mersiv’s Throw Down: Vol. 2 features 11 dynamic tracks produced by 13 artists.

From his humble beginnings of throwing literal barn burners in Louisiana, Anderson Benoit Gallegos aka Mersiv is now uplifting fellow dubstep artists with the release of Throw Down Vol. 2 on his Denver-based label, MorFlo Records.

MorFlo and Mersiv not only promote the beats and basslines of the underground, but they bring them all together in a tastemaker’s flight of dubstep tunes. The Throw Down compilation album series is helping to platform the next generation of dubstep DJs and producers.

The opening track is a variation in production of Mersiv’s “Fire Dance” with that distinctive wub that he is known for and Attitude‘s grimy vocals. Like many of Mersiv’s live sets, the following tracks flow into two areas: the “Slow Down,” with the melodic downtempo ethereal air of opening tracks, and the heavier “Throw Down” of the namesake album, providing the loud, pulsating rhythm that Mersiv has sought to curate.

This flow is best demonstrated by Seth David‘s “Wandering,” which feels like walking through an alpine meadow before jumping off a cliff face into the bass drop. Next, local Santa Cruz, California legend SCHMUX is “Holdin It Down” with an infusion of effervescent wubs before Noetika‘s “Nightcrawler” skitters in with its playful beat, almost straight out of a Mortal Kombat fight theme. The only thing missing is a gravelly voice saying “fatality” at the end.

Acyan & Bauti then deliver “33FLOOD,” which wastes no time diving into a harder bassline with breaks to up the tempo before Dom Jamal‘s “Freak It” lights up with slick reverb. Vyhara‘s “Move” helps bridge the gap between the “Slow” and “Throw Down,” providing a dubby interlude not to be overlooked.

The final four tracks round out the album with Venture 5‘s “Down In It,” whose intricate percussion makes the track a standout. Wraz. & Basura‘s “Voice Inside My Head” then goes deep into the dub and bass frequencies to truly play with your mind. I can’t wait to hear it in the wild on a proper sound system.

MYTHM‘s “MALFUNCTION” brings the beat back down but is no less heavy for it. Finally, Meduso‘s “Soundboy Killah” literally melts halfway through the track and hits you with one final nasty-as-all-get-out drop to close out Throw Down Vol. 2.

All in all, the album speaks to how Mersiv’s underground ear and mainstage attitude equip him to tap artists capable of bringing the bass. Not merely a collection of tracks, it’s a free-flowing effort of bass-heavy hitters for longtime fans and newcomers alike. With these tracks now available, here is looking forward to 2026 and what Mersiv, MorFlo, and all have planned for their next releases.
